See Jane Run!

Yay, I did it!  I was able to run my first official 1/2 marathon today.  Thank you to my Hubby for bringing the girls and cheering me on at the end of the race, to Nani and Boyd for coming and supporting me and for the amazing pasta dinner they took us to at Fino (Yummo), and Rachel Yeates for being my running partner and training with me.  I never thought I'd ever be a runner, but my best buddy, Megan Naihe, showed me another world of long distant running, so thank you to Megan for introducing me into this sport that I love now.
Today was an exciting race.  Me and five girls from my ward all signed up to run this race.  The day started at 6am when I woke up and got ready, then I went to Rachel's and Devon (Rachel's Husband) drove us to Maryanne's, then we picked up Mindy, and then Rebecca and Jenn and Scott and off to the race.  We all pretty much split up from there except Rachel and I headed straight for the and port-a-potties (ewww, I know, but you gotta go when you gotta go) and then I got my chip to tie to my shoe and then to the starting line, but Rachel and I started off towards the end of the crowd of about 2000 racers.  I'm pretty sure we didn't cross the official starting line until 2 mins. into the race, but after that we were able to pick up our pace and run a good race.  When I crossed the finish line the clock said, "2:00:23".  I feel like it was not bad for my first official 1/2 marathon.

I have to edit this and report my official time 1:59:17.3, so actually did beat my 2 hour goal.  Yay!

Blue Building

Miya is so silly with her silky....This photo almost looks like Miya's holding her head on a stick in front of her face.... hmmmm......

There is this cool blue building behind our apartment, that I thought would make a great background for some photos.   I didn't take these with my nicer camera, so the depth of field and quality isn't the greatest, but I think this blue building will be a potential spot for future photo shoots.

Little fun at Totland

Every Tuesdays we have park group where we go to different parks around Berkeley and Albany.  It has been really fun taking the girls to these new parks.  So, yesterday we went to Totland, a cute little playground in the middle of a neighborhood.

Colbert is the man

Another reminder of why I find Stephen Colbert so politically rufus. "Rain" the korean pop star took his place on Time's 100 most influential people so Stephen challenged him to a dance-off, Stephen thought he wouldn't show, then the rest was history.

nostalgia, history, and memory

When I think of the past I love to reminisce and reconstruct situations, conversations, and feelings in my mind. I think I am fascinated with how the past shapes the present and how we really create the present through memory, that's why I study history. But one thing I love to remember is the toys, games, and material dreams we had as kids. This is why I am so pleased that it is all so retro-ed and re-appropriated to be cool nowadays. Check out this artwork around the theme of 8-bit gaming (I just miss mario, and punch out). I remember garbage pail kids, popples, he-man, thundercats, and voltron toys. What was your favorite or desired toy as a kid? What do you miss from those beautifully bygone days? up, down, up, down, right, left, right, left, ab select start? or was it a,b,a,b, select start?

Cookie after nappy

While Emi was taking her afternoon nap, Miya and I decided to make some cookies together (a fun sunday activity).  So, when Emi woke up she had a nice little after nap treat.
Since I just posted about Emi, I felt bad about not posting anything about Miya, so here's her after nap picture.
