nostalgia, history, and memory

When I think of the past I love to reminisce and reconstruct situations, conversations, and feelings in my mind. I think I am fascinated with how the past shapes the present and how we really create the present through memory, that's why I study history. But one thing I love to remember is the toys, games, and material dreams we had as kids. This is why I am so pleased that it is all so retro-ed and re-appropriated to be cool nowadays. Check out this artwork around the theme of 8-bit gaming (I just miss mario, and punch out). I remember garbage pail kids, popples, he-man, thundercats, and voltron toys. Cookie after nappy

While Emi was taking her afternoon nap, Miya and I decided to make some cookies together (a fun sunday activity).  So, when Emi woke up she had a nice little after nap treat.

Since I just posted about Emi, I felt bad about not posting anything about Miya, so here's her after nap picture.  

Baba and Grandpa came for a visit

My Mom and Bob came for the weekend.  We had a lot of fun.  My mom helped me out with my cooking class where we taught how to make california rolls and gyoza (Thank you so much for helping me mom!).  We had fun going to places like Japantown and Fisherman's Warf where we ate lots of yummy seafood, watched sea lions bask in the sun and the girls and I got to ride a fun two story carousel.   Miya and Emi are really missing their grandparents already.  Thank you for coming down guys!  We love you!

Thursday morning Mason came home from working out at the gym with these beautiful Gerber Daisies (my favorite) just because.  So I just wanted to publicly say Thank you and what an amazing husband I think he is!  I love you Mase!  Thank you for being so great to me and for being an amazing daddy to our girls.  

Bdon Bday and PANIC in San Diego

Well it was, if you can believe it, even better to see panic at the disco in San Diego because the whole family flew out to surprise brendon for his 21st birthday. The venue wasn't the coolest but the show was amazing and the energy was insane. We had tons of fun with family and friends and had a great time celebrating Brendon's birthday. Too bad it all had to end so soon.

Panic at the disco was amazing. They sounded great and Brendon was, of course, fantastic. Brendon and Shane were both super nice and Brendon was so kind to hook us up with tickets and back stage passes. After hanging backstage Erika passed out and I didn't even know I was still talking to Brendon when Zach came and yelled "Mason, you better get over here!" There was my wife sitting on a chair with her head hanging and our friend Sharon was standing next to her saying, "she passed out." It was actually really scary but I think it was just low blood sugar/dehydration/fatigue/housemom getting out/and a little contact high. Anyway it was a great night and great to see Bdon do his thang.
